The Chief Executive Officer of Kaduna Peace Commission (KAPECOM), Barrister Priscilla Ankut, has called on Nigerians to step up efforts aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence among the people.
Barrister Ankut made the call in a message marking the UN International of Peace. She said peacemaking and conflict prevention, mitigation, and resolution had become necessary in view of present realities in the country. The International Day of Peace is marked every September 21st.
The CEO said in Kaduna State a lot had been achieved and there has been sustained relative peace, adding that the Kaduna State Government had taken the lead in this process.
While appreciating the Kaduna State Governor for his unrelenting support to ongoing peace efforts, Barr Ankut enjoined the people of Kaduna State to continue to work hard to sustain the peace being currently enjoyed.
KAPECOM has collaborated with Community-Based Organization’s (CBOs), Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), religious leaders, political parties, traditional rulers as well as development partners in its peacemaking efforts in the state.
